Being confined to quarters due to the threat of the Coronavirus pandemic means lots of opportunities to paint. Without the pressure of deadlines for exhibitions or competitions to work towards, I am free to experiment with different subjects and new techniques. Here on the easel are my three most recent results of playing around with ways to paint elephants. On the left I have tried to capture movement and synchronicity; at the bottom I've used an unusual format; and on the right I've almost created a "Where's Jumbo?" puzzle where the elephants emerge from camouflage. Art is a wonderful way to pass time, relax and focus one's mind. It is a form of meditation where the time just melts and at the end not only have you forgotten all your worries as you have been so absorbed in the creative process, but you have a lovely creation to show for the time spent.
